TMF: 2 YEARS OF OPERATION

TMF: 2 YEARS OF OPERATION

June 2018 marked the beginning of TMF operations. We are proud and thankful that we can celebrate two years of operation! Our team has been able to reach this mark thanks to all the support from our donors and our Board Members. We have not posted anything since December as we have been uncertain of what the future holds. Below you will find updates on our latest endeavors and operations, such as how our business impacted youth athletics and recreation, as well as our vision for TMF moving forward:

Back in February, we took action to donate to a girls youth basketball organization operating out of La Jolla, CA called The San Diego Waves. Every Sunday during the month of February TMF hosted a workout class at The JuneShine Ranch in San Diego where multiple fitness instructors volunteered their time to lead donation based workout classes. These classes fell under our fitness fundraiser challenge we call the #23for23challenge. As some of you may know, this challenge is a way we honor Kevin Husum who wore the number 23 on the baseball field and is a way to inspire others to get physically active during the shortest month of the year.  A big thank you goes out to the fitness leaders who led these workout classes: Counter Culture, Free Your Breath, Core Power, and Mello Yoga - couldn’t have done this without you! We raised $824.02 to honor Kobe Bryant’s and Gigi Bryant's game jersey numbers. Our TMF President, Luke Suttmiller, presented the check in person and was able to watch a practice and speak to the players of the organization.

Another milestone TMF accomplished during the #23for23challenge was made possible by Kyren Parrott, our newest Board Member. The addition of Ky came at a crucial moment -  his passion lit a fire within the TMF team to help the youth in the DC/Metro area get involved in baseball. Ky led a free baseball clinic involving three other instructors for the youth in the inner city of Washington DC. Thank you to all of the coaches and players who put in the hard work at the camp: Ky Parrott, Dan Husum, Mike Sciorra, Adam Sisk, and Brandon Withers (Go Dukes).

During the COVID-19 pandemic, TMF has used this time to reflect as the country and the world adjust to all of the curveballs society has had to face. Unfortunately, we remain at a standstill, but are continuously looking for ways to improve the situations of those involved in youth athletic/recreation. Our Board Members have decided to focus on optimizing business efficiency, redesigning our website, and developing apparel for increasing awareness.

Although we have decided to wait on our next donation initiative, TMF was able to see a previous campaign finish out. TMF is proud to announce that the new fence at Booker T. Washington High School (BTWHS) is finished! Multiple parties were involved in helping BTWHS finish their fence which allowed their home field to meet Virginia High School League regulations. We are extremely grateful that BTWHS Athletic Director, Robin D. Williams, and Head Baseball Coach, Thaddeus Berry, allowed us to be a part of the reconstruction. A special thank you again to Connor Jones, Pitcher for the Saint Louis Cardinals.  His campaign, Giving Back With Groundouts, helped fuel the momentum to finish the fence.

We can not identify exactly how TMF will impact youth athletics and recreation moving forward, but we can guarantee this: TMF will put their best foot forward on taking action, emphasizing the importance of social justice, and keeping the youth physically active and safe. Again, thank you to everyone who has donated and has been involved with TMFs past fundraiser campaigns, we look forward to what the future holds!

Stay Funky,
